It happens—a missed exposure. It happened way more often with the unforgiving behavior of slide film. But, even with digital capture, a missed exposure is a recurrent problem.
Fortunately, in the case of this Kodachrome slide, it didn’t get tossed but rather landed in the outtake pile. Fast forward a decade and a half, and this under-exposed and horrifically color-cast image was transformed into something wonderful—a perfectly rendered moment between a grandmother and her granddaughter.

As seen in The Picture Professional magazine.
Frequently the “bad things” that often happens to otherwise wonderful images aren’t this drastic. An image may only need a basic adjustment, such as a contrast correction, to take it from good to great. Or, maybe it’s an isolated color that needs correction—green grass not quite green enough, a blue sky heading towards purple, a skin tone a bit too red. Whatever the ”bad” thing is that happened to an otherwise wonderful photograph, ChromaQueen is very happy to help!
